Prof. DAVUT SONER AKGÜL

Professor Davut Soner AKGÜL was born in 1976 in Ceyhan District, Adana. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Ceyhan. He began his undergraduate education at the Plant Protection Department of the Faculty of Agriculture at Çukurova University in 1994 and graduated in 1998. After graduation, he began his master's degree at the Department of Plant Protection at the Institute of Natural Sciences at Ç.Ü. and was appointed as a research assistant in 2000. He then completed his master's degree in 2002 and his doctorate in 2008. In August 2008, he was transferred to the Directorate of the Manisa Viticulture Research Institute through inter-institutional transfer. In December 2011, with a scholarship from the Ministry of Agriculture, he participated in a 6-month training program on “Identification and Control of Plant Diseases” at the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology at the University of California, Riverside (USA). After working for six years at the Plant Health Department of the Manisa Viticulture Research Institute, he was appointed as a faculty member (Assistant Professor) at the Plant Protection Department of the Faculty of Agriculture at Çukurova University in August 2014. He was promoted to associate professor in February 2019 and to professor in 2025. He currently works as a faculty member in this department. He is married and has two children.
