Biography

Osman Parlak completed his PhD on Tethyan ophiolites in the Department of Mineralogy at Geneva University in 1996. He has been working in the Geological Engineering Department at Çukurova University since 1997 and was assigned as a Professor since 2006. He continued his research as a postdoc in Department of Geology and Paleontology at Salzburg University in the frame of Lise Meitner Fellowship (Austrian Science Foundation) during 1997 and 1998. He was also visiting scientist at the University of Geneva in 2001. Osman Parlak conducted number of research projects on petrology and geochronology of ophiolites along the suture zones in Anatolia. He received “The Outstanding Young Scientist Award-Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA)” in 2003, Young Scientists Encouragement Award (The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey) in 2005 and EAGE 2013 Norman Falcon Award (European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers).
