Abstract

Thyroid dysfunction is one of the serious consequences of an overdose of acetaminophen, aspirin, or nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs. The management of such consequences remains a medical challenge. A variety of thyroid abnormalities are common in clinical practice and can, in many cases, be accurately diagnosed and managed by the primary care physician. This case study covers an aspirin overdose causing thyroid storm that was treated successfully with hemodialysis.
