Özet

The invasive spotted stem borer, Chilopartellus Swinhoe (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), hasbecome a dominant pest in maize fields of Türkiyesince its introduction in 2014. This study inves-tigates its impact on native stem borers, Ostrinianubilalis Hübner, 1796 (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)and Sesamia nonagrioides Lefebvre 1827 (Lepidop-tera: Noctuidae), six years after its establishment inthe East Mediterranean region. The field monitoringin Adana Province, Türkiye was conducted duringthe first and second maize cropping seasons in 2020and 2021. Population dynamics, infestation rates, andpest diversity indices were analyzed using field datathrough Generalized Linear Models (GLM) and eco-logical indices, including the Shannon–Wiener index,Simpson’s Dominance, and Evenness measures. Theresults reveal that C. partellus exhibits superior com-petitive abilities, displacing native species, duringboth the first and second cropping seasons. Its domi-nance is supported by its higher relative abundance, reduced species diversity, and significant negativeinteractions with native pests, as confirmed by statis-tical analyses.
