Citrus fruits is largely consumed all over the world as fresh fruit, and also as medicine because it contains high levels of minerals and vitamin C. Citrus tree plantations are grown in sub-tropical climate conditions. For this reason, it is extremely important to know in which academic and research area SCI recognized scientific papers are published. In addition, it is very important to know in which direction and trend academic studies are evolving. Many bibliometric analysis methods are used to determine the trends of the studies in this type of meta-analyses research. The bibliometric analysis method is a very important graphic and mapping technique used to determine scientific studies’ processes, development, and clustering. The bibliometric analysis method is summarized by using the Web of Science database and VOS-viewer graphical approaches. The research aims to determine the research articles and research areas published in the journals scanned in SCI journals conducted in the field of citrus in the last 22 years since 2000. In the last 22 years, 17325 SCI papers were published in the “citrus” area through the WOS database. Considering the years, it was seen that most publications were published in the year 2021 (1444). While the majority of the publications were made by American scientists (4425), and the People’s Republic of China (2823). Turkish scientists have published the highest number of academic articles on citrus fruits in the 12th place in the world. So far, Turkish scientists have produced 368 publications. The highest publications were done by Deng X. (212 papers). The majority of publications nearly 96% (16764) are published in English. When the research areas of the publications are examined, it seems that most publications were published in agriculture. When the results of the bibliometric analysis management on citrus fruits are examined, it is seen that the top three countries in the number of publications are also in the top three in citrus production. Turkey is in 7th place in citrus production in the world. However, out of the total number of publications in the citrus area Turkish scientists produced only 2% of the total publications. In this work, we found that it is important to know in which institution, in which countries and in which area citrus studies are done. It is important to use such research techniques to do general meta-analyses to get information about any research indicators. According to the WOS database analysis, it seems that scientifically developed countries produce more important scientific publications on the citrus area than other developing countries.
