Özet

Ca(1−x)SmxMnO3 (x = 0, 0.03, 0.05, and 0.10) ceramics were produced through the conventional solid-state reaction method. The XRD results confirmed a predominantly orthorhombic perovskite structure with Pnma space-group symmetry. Sm substitution progressively reduced the Goldschmidt tolerance factor while increasing the unit-cell volume, indicating systematic structural modification. Magnetization measurements revealed an antiferromagnetic-to-paramagnetic transition, with the Néel temperature decreasing from 115 K to 99 K with increasing Sm content. The magnetic phase transition was further analyzed using Curie-Weiss fitting. Among the compositions, the x = 0.05 sample exhibited the best magnetocaloric response, with a maximum magnetic entropy change of 0.2345 J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹ and a relative cooling power of 7.035 J kg⁻¹ under an applied magnetic field of 2 T. These results highlight the potential of Sm substitution for tailoring the low-temperature magnetocaloric response of CaMnO3-based ceramics and support further investigation of these materials in the context of environmentally friendly magnetic refrigeration.
