Land market in Turkey is formed by producers who cannot earn sufficient income from agriculture, who
cannot pay his/her credit debts, who don’t see future in agriculture or who want to invest in sectors
other than agriculture and due to these reasons who want to sell their lands and by producers who want
to enlarge their farms or who want to establish a new farm or who want to invest in agricultural land
and due to these reasons who want to buy agricultural land. This research has been realized with the
aim of providing information to institutions driving agricultural policies about occurring farm models
by analyzing direction and level of this land market formation. Data of this research has been obtained
from questionnaires held with 234 producers who bought or sold agricultural lands in 5 villages
representing 3 counties of Konya Province where land market is very active in 2017. Data has been
analyzed separately for buyers and sellers and group analysis has been used by taking land sizes and
share of bought and sold lands in total land amount into consideration.
