Apricot (Prunus armeniaca) is important in the economy of Turkey. Chondrostereum purpureum causing silvering was observed in apricot growing areas in Malatya, Turkey. The pathogenicity test was undertaken on apricot trees in a nursery, and disease incidence was found to be 22% after inoculation.
