The defense industry has become increasingly important among countries in the world. Countries have always developed
a defense strategy against their enemies, which they see as the most important threat to their independence. In this study, by
changing the bullet types, the velocity of the bullets was changed when the models were changed. Based on the data obtained,
the plate surface affected by the bullets was examined in terms of deformation, equivalent elastic strain, and equivalent stress.
Explicit analysis was done by using three different projectiles like 9x19mm Parabellum bullet,7.62x51mm bullet,300WM bullet,
and two different plate materials as Steel 4340 and DP600 steel. Armored plate and projectile design were made by using CATIA
(Computer Aided Three-Dimensional Interactive Application) and explicit dynamics analysis was applied by FEM (Finite Element
Method). The plate material change in the study primarily aims to completely stop the lead passage and at the same time to cause
less damage to the plate. This path is also important in terms of providing lightness and also reducing damage. The results of the
analysis indicate that using DP600 as the armored plate for three different projectiles had better results %7.5 to %48 in equivalent
stress. The results of the total deformation and equivalent elastic strain of the two plate materials are quite similar. These results can
reveal very important data in the defense industry or similar fields.
