Özet

The development of green innovation can prevent environmental pollution by increasing the use of environmentally friendly energy sources and energy efficiency. Therefore, identifying the drivers of green innovation is important for combating climate change and achieving sustainable development goals. In this framework, this research examines the impact of technology-support-based environmental regulations, economic complexity, globalization, and property rights on green innovation in France between 1995 and 2020. We follow a Fourier-based econometric methodology to investigate this relationship. The findings suggest that technology-support-based environmental regulations, economic complexity, globalization, and property rights positively impact green innovation. On the other hand, there is a bidirectional causal relationship between green innovation and technology-support-based environmental regulations. Such findings imply that well-designed environmental regulations and property rights support green innovations through the economy’s sophistication and globalization’s spillover effect.
