This study presents the design and the complete analysis of a
novel logarithmic amplifier using second-generation current conveyors. The
circuit utilizes exponential current-voltage characteristics of a pn-diode to
obtain the logarithm of the input signal. Unlike the opamp-based logarithmic
amplifiers, the proposed design does not suffer from instability since the
active component in the feedback loop. The simulation results show that the
logarithmic behaviour of the design could be used in various applications.
