Özet

Turkiye has a rich apricot flora and a production potential capable of affecting global markets. In order to emphasize this potential, phenological characteristics, fruit quality, and some phytochemical properties of selected apricot varieties grown in the Mut district of the Mersin region were evaluated in the study. The results showed that the lowest fruit weight (25.64 g) was recorded for the ‘Precoce de Tyrinthe’ variety, while the highest (49.34 g) was observed for ‘Flopria’. Stone weight ranged from the lowest (1.76 g) in ‘Precoce de Tyrinthe’ to the highest (2.32 g) in ‘Domino’. Fruit flesh firmness was found to be lowest (76.25 kg/cm2) in the ‘Çağatay Bey’ variety and highest (94.00 kg/cm2) in ‘Orange Ruby’. Soluble solids content varied between 12.90% in ‘Rubista’ and 18.46% in ‘Çağatay Bey’; pH value measured between 3.21 in ‘Rubista’ and 3.83 in the ‘Domino’ variety. Titratable acidity was found to be lowest (1.32%) in the ‘Domino’ variety and highest (2.42%) in ‘Orange Ruby’. In terms of antioxidant activity (measured by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl [DPPH] and ferric reducing antioxidant power [FRAP] methods), ‘Orange Ruby’ demonstrated the highest antioxidant capacity in both analyses. The lowest total phenolic content value (10.16 mg GAE/100 g) was recorded in ‘Flopria’, while the highest (120.47 mg GAE/100 g) was observed in the ‘Orange Ruby’ variety. Total anthocyanin content varied from 0.82 mg/g in the ‘Çağatay Bey’ variety to (1.58 mg/g) in ‘Domino’. The findings indicated that the most suitable apricot varieties for cultivation in the Mut district are ‘Flopria’, ‘Domino’, and ‘Çağatay Bey’, with ‘Orange Ruby’ standing out due to its high antioxidant capacity and phenolic content.
