FLUORIDE, vol.26, no.2, pp.111-114, 1993 (SCI-Expanded)
Plasma fluoride levels were determined in 25 term and 32 preterm babies. Venous blood samples were obtained within the first 48 hours of life and analyzed by the fluoride-ion selective electrode. Mean plasma fluoride levels in the term babies were significantly higher than in the preterm babies (92.47 +/- 8.40 mg/L vs 57.74 +/- 6.94 mg/L, p < 0.001). Plasma fluoride levels showed no correlation with gestational age and birth weight, respectively (r = 0.33, p > 0.05; r = 0.30, p > 005).
