Abstract

In this study, the effects of eight different citrus rootstocks (Sunki mandarin, Tuzcu 31-31 sour orange, Swingle citrumelo, Gou Tou sour orange, Carrizo citrange, Australian sour orange, Cleopatra mandarin and Troyer citrange) on fruit yield and some pomological characters of ‘Spring Navel’ orange cultivar were investigated. Trees grafted on to Tuzcu 31-31 sour orange had the highest fruit yield whereas trees grafted on Australian sour orange had the lowest fruit yield. The highest fruit weight was found in ‘Spring Navel’ orange trees (214.60 and 205.73 g) grafted on Australian sour orange and Carrizo citrange, respectively. Fruit juice concentration was higher in ‘Spring Navel’ orange grafted on to same rootstocks. The titratable acidity varied from 0.91% (Troyer citrange) to 1.18% (Sunki mandarin). The results regarding the juice content of ‘Spring Navel’ orange trees grafted on eight different rootstocks were found to be statistically significant and it was the lowest in fruit samples of ‘Spring Navel’ grafted on to Tuzcu 31-31 sour orange.
