Abstract

In this study, Iron Age Ceramics from the Region of Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Turkey) were studied in order to re-interpret about form and slip decoration using with local clays. Raw materials selected from the Almanpınarı Village and the side of Seyhan Dam Lake. Several tests (DTA-TG, XRD, firing shrinkage, water absorption) were applied to local clays. These local clays were used as slip decoration and were also used as making new forms and fired at 1050oC. Results showed that local clays are suitable for slip decoration and pottery making without causing any problems.
