Abstract

Background: Anemia is a frequent disorder worldwide. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common form of anemia. Although oral iron is the first choice for treatment, the efficacy of oral iron preparations may be limited. Ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) is a novel parenteral iron preparation which can rapidly replenish iron stores. The aim of the present study is to investigate the impact of FCM dose on hemoglobin (Hb) and ferritin levels and the frequency of hypersensitivity reactions.
