The automotive chassis frame is the structural backbone of a vehicle and represents an essential part of it. The main function
of the chassis frame is to support the body of the car, its different parts, and safely carry the load on it within a limit within all
operating conditions. The aim of this study is to design a truck chassis using UHSS (Ultra-High Strength Steel) material and to
analyze the change of weight reduction, deformation, and stress values compared to the currently used structural steel chassis by
finite element method (FEM). Chassis frames have to withstand stresses as well as deformations that occur throughout their use
and withstand shock, bending, vibration, and other loads caused by external conditions. The analysis of these generated loads is
also done at the design stage by means of the finite element method. n this study, the truck chassis was designed from structural
steel and UHSS material using Computer Aided Design Software and it analyzes were carried out with the help of ANSYS program.
The results are given as total deformation, total maximum stress, and safety factor distribution. The analysis results indicate that the
use of advanced steel can result in a 14.32% weight reduction for the truck chassis compared to structural steel, as well as a 10.02%
improvement in fuel economy.
