In the field of “al-ṭibb al-rūhānī” in Islamic moral philosophy, Islamic philosophers have conducted many researches on the diseases of the soul and their treatments, and have tried to bring various suggestions and solutions to them. Within Islamic philosophy, it is posited that physical well-being is conducive to a fulfilling life, leading to the understanding that mental well-being is equally crucial for human perfection. Bewilderment or confusion of mind, recognized as a significant mental affliction, is particularly noteworthy due to its capacity to undermine human existence. This study aims to elucidate how contemporary insights can be derived from the proposals and remedies put forth by Islamic philosophers. Accordingly, this research seeks to clarify how bewilderment, categorized as a mental disorder, is indeed a malady and what interventions should be employed for its treatment, particularly through the lens of Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī and other scholars who have addressed this topic. A thorough analysis of Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī’s viewpoints has been conducted, assessing the relevance of his recommended solutions in today’s context. His therapeutic approaches for bewilderment have been evaluated, revealing his conceptualization of bewilderment as a theoretical ailment that demands a theoretical solution. Thus, it has been concluded that theoretical deficiencies in the ability to discern truth from falsehood may provoke such a state. For the effective treatment of bewilderment, a profound understanding of logic and the ability to identify logical fallacies appears to be crucial. It is accurate to assert that the treatment strategies arising from this analysis remain relevant today. To improve societal well-being, it is essential to recognize the importance of logic and philosophy in confronting the theoretical challenges associated with mental disorders. This calls for an active implementation of these fields. Therefore, it can be argued that logic and philosophy constitute two essential domains that ought to be integrated into all levels of the educational curriculum.
