Özet

The purpose of this study was to investigate faculty members' job satisfaction according to some socio-demographic variables and their views of the university for which they work. Participants were 392 faculty members working at various colleges of Hacettepe (193 participants- 49.2%) and Cukurova (199 participants-50.8%) universities. The Job Satisfaction Scale for Academics (Kelecioglu, Bilge and Akman, 2006) and an accompanying survey developed by the researchers to inquire information on independent variables were used for data collection. The results showed that faculty job satisfaction had significant relationships with the following variables: marital status, objectivity in academic promotions, access to computers and the Internet, social opportunities of the university and the degree of the university's promotion of a sense of belonging as valued members. The results and recommendations for future research were also discussed within the body of this research.
