In this study, some quality specifications of silage obtained from corn and alfalfa mixtures in different amounts were examined. Corn and alfalfa grown in Hatay province was used. 5 groups were formed –each repeated 3 times- as 100% corn, 100% alfalfa, 75%alfalfa+25%corn, 50%alfalfa+50%corn and 25%alfalfa+75%corn in the test. 0.1% salt was added to silage in each group. The results of the experiment; It is determined that silage pH was increased (P<0.0001) in direct proportion to alfalfa amount except for the group contained 25% alfalfa. A significant difference wasn’t identified between 100% corn and 25% alfalfa groups in terms of fleig numbers calculated in terms of silage nutrient ingredient. These two groups’ fleig scores were higher than the other groups significantly (P<0.0001). However, it is determined that 100% alfalfa group had the lowest fleig score significantly (P<0.0001).
As a result, the conclusion was reached that good quality silage in 25%alfalfa+75% corn amount can be obtained as 100% corn silage in terms of some nutrients.
