Abstract

Feldspar is a important raw material in the industry of glass, ceramic, fillers, and welding electrodes. This paper aims to characterize and interpret the trends in reserves, resources, mine production and export case of feldspar in the Türkiye. With over 250 Mt of total resources, feldspar belongs to the crucial industrial minerals of the Türkiye. With annual outputs of approximately 7.5–8 Mt of feldspars, the Türkiye ranks among the top European and world feldspar producers. There are sodium feldspar reserves in ÇineYatağan-Milas and Uşak, and sodium-potassium mixed feldspar reserves in Bilecik Söğüt, Manisa-Demirci-Gördes and Kırşehir Massif. The feldspar raw materials are used in the domestic glass and ceramic industries, while more than 85% is exported, generally to Italy, Spain and Russia.
