Economics and Tourism: New Perspectives in Social Sciences, Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, ss.61-71, 2026
Tourism and economics are closely related, as seen in the similarities between university tourism programs. However, the link between tourism, economics, and linguistics is often overlooked. Tourism economics studies the production and consumption of goods by small and medium-sized enterprises, while applied linguistics explores the role of language in various fields. Eco-linguistics, a branch of applied linguistics, examines the relationship between language and environmental issues, emphasizing multilingualism and cultural preservation. Tourist preferences are shaped by factors like recreation, culture, and environmental concerns. The language used in eco-friendly tourism practices influences these preferences, contributing to the tourism economy. This study highlights Eco-linguistics’ role in promoting sustainable tourism.
