Kınık’s 'miner workshop' is located near the Kınık neighborhood of Devrekâni district 32 km northeast of Kastamonu province. In 1990, after the discovery of a group of Hittite metal vessels, the excavations began in Delibeyoğlu Sırtı Ören Yeri. This settlement was shown as the place where the metal vessels were unearthed, and so, a plain settlement area with three layers including a mining workshop, from the end of the 4th millennium BC to the first half of the 1st millennium BC, was identified. This workshop, dated to the second half of the 3rd millennium BC, consists of small room groups with stone walls, storage pits and hearth remains, which were built on the bedrock. The crucibles, tuyère, the stone mortars and hand stones such as crushing, pasting and grinding tools discovered around the hearths indicate that there must have been at least partially, metallurgical activities there, and it seems that metal melting work might have been performed to produce small tools in the melting pots or to conduct an experimental study.
