Özet
Hydrocelectomy is a frequently performed and generally safe urological procedure; however, it is not without potential complications. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of postoperative adverse events associated with hydrocele treatment, including scrotal hematoma, chronic scrotal pain, epididymal or vasal injury, recurrence, and infection. Scrotal hematoma remains the most common postoperative complication and a major cause of reintervention. Although chronic orchialgia occurs infrequently, it may substantially impair quality of life. Iatrogenic injury to the epididymis or vas deferens can jeopardize fertility, particularly in younger patients. While recurrence rates are generally low, they are influenced by the surgical technique employed, patient-specific factors, and perioperative management strategies. Postoperative infections, although uncommon, may manifest as severe conditions such as Fournier’s gangrene, necessitating prompt diagnosis and aggressive treatment. Preventive strategies, including meticulous surgical technique, careful tissue handling, optimal hemostasis, and stringent perioperative protocols, are critical for minimizing complication rates. Additionally, patient-related risk factors such as obesity, prior scrotal surgeries, and surgeon experience must be considered in the decision-making process. Early identification and management of complications are pivotal for optimizing outcomes. Ongoing advancements in surgical methods and patient selection criteria hold promise for further reducing complication rates and enhancing the safety and efficacy of hydrocelectomy.
