Özet

The aim of this study was to investigate the seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in donkeys in Erzurum, the largest province of Eastern Turkey. The current study was carried out on serum samples collected from 55 female and 37 male donkeys from the Erzurum province which were examined using the Sabin Feldman Dye test. Out of 92 collected samples, 57 (62%) of sera were found to be seropositive at the dilution of 1:16 and greater. The rates of positivity for female and male donkeys were 67.3% and 54.1%, respectively. As far as age groups were concerned, 38.6% positivity was found at 0-3 years, 50.9% at 4-6 years and 19.3% at 7 years of age or older. This study indicated that toxoplasmosis in donkeys is common in Erzurum province and displays different ratios in terms of age and gender.
