Araştırma, Türkiye'deki üniversitelerde Makine Mühendisliği eğitimi veren kurumların güncel hallerinin tespiti amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Türkiye’de Makine Mühendisliği bölümü bulunan yükseköğretim kurumları yönetimsel durum, öğretim ve ilerleme durumu, öğretim elemanı bakımından incelenmiş ve durumları gözlenmiştir. Araştırma dataları Nisan–Mayıs 2022 tarihleri süresince üniversitelerde Makine Mühendisliği eğitimi bulunan bölümlerin resmi internet sayfalarından, Öğrenci Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi’nin kılavuzlarından ve Yükseköğretim Kurulunun elektronik veri tabanı yararlanılarak bir araya getirilmiştir. 2022 yılı Mayıs ayı itibari ile ülkemizde (KKTC dahil) 116 bölümde Makine Mühendisliği eğitimi bulunmaktadır. Bu üniversitelerdeki bölümlerden, 84’ü devlet üniversitesi, 32’si vakıfa ait olup, 108’i mühendislik fakültesi,6’sı teknoloji fakültesi ve 2’si makine fakültesidir. Bölümlerde toplam 2283 öğretim üye ve elemanı ve 2022 yılı için bölümlere yerleşen 7445 Makine Mühendisliği öğrencisi vardır. Bölümlerdeki öğretim elemanları ve yöneticilerin sahip oldukları unvanlar, meslekleri, bölümlerdeki lisansüstü eğitim verme durumu, üniversitelerin bulunduğu konumlar, anabilim dallarının sayısı, yabancı dil eğitimi, akreditasyon gibi karakteristikleri hakkında kapsamlı bir inceleme yapılmıştır. Çalışma bulguları Makine Mühendisliği bölümlerinde 1 öğretim elemanı başına ortalama 23 öğrenci denk geldiğini, Makine Mühendisliği bölümlerinin yöneticilerine bakıldığında ise yalnızca %16,4’ünün mesleğinin Makine Mühendisi olmadığı gibi kayda değer çıktılar göstermektedir. Bölümler için ayrı ayrı değerlendirme yapıldığında her faaliyet alanda birbirlerine kıyasla temel ayrımlar içerdiği sonucu çıkmaktadır.
The research was carried out in order to determine the current status of the institutions providing Mechanical Engineering education in universities in Turkey. Higher education institutions with Mechanical Engineering departments in Turkey were examined in terms of administrative status, teaching and progress, teaching staff and their status was observed. The research data were gathered by using the official websites of the departments with Mechanical Engineering education at universities, the guides of the Student Selection and Placement Center, and the electronic database of the Council of Higher Education between April and May 2022. As of May 2022, there is Mechanical Engineering education in 116 departments in our country (including the TRNC). Of the departments in these universities, 84 are state universities, 32 belong to foundations, 108 are engineering faculties, 6 are technology faculties and 2 are machinery faculties. There are 2283 faculty members and staff in the departments and 7445 Mechanical Engineering students who are placed in the departments for the year 2022. A comprehensive examination was made about the characteristics such as the titles of the lecturers and administrators in the departments, their professions, postgraduate education in the departments, the locations of the universities, the number of departments, foreign language education, accreditation. The findings of the study show that there is an average of 23 students per 1 instructor in Mechanical Engineering departments, and only 16.4% of the managers of Mechanical Engineering departments are not Mechanical Engineers by profession. When separate evaluations are made for the departments, it is concluded that there are fundamental distinctions in each field of activity compared to each other
