Abstract

Sizing process is the important process for the textile mills and affects the efficiency of the loom machine. In this study, the optimization of the multiple performance characteristics based on grey relations analysis method which is a new approach for optimization of the sizing process has been researched using Taguchi L18 (mixed 3-6 Level) experimental plan. The selected process parameters,  Warp Yarn Count, Sizing Solution and The Dispatch Speed of The Warp Yarn passing from sizing machine are optimized. In the experimental design of the Taguchi L18 (mixed 3-6 Level), Warp Yarn Count factor was chosen as 3 levels (Ne 50/1, Ne 60/1 ve Ne 70/1), Sizing Solution factor was chosen as 3 levels (14 Ns/m2, 20 Ns/m2, 24 Ns/m2) and The Dispatch Speed of The Warp Yarn passing from sizing machine factor was chosen as 6 levels (40 m/dk, 50 m/dk, 60 m/dk, 70 m/dk, 80 m/dk, 90 m/dk). Quality characteristics were determined as Warp Yarn Strength, The Efficiency of The Loom Machine. A grey relational grade obtained from the grey relational analysis is used to solve the sizing process with the multiple performance characteristics. And then, optimum levels for the sizing process parameters were determined using grey relation grade.
