Abstract

Erionite was first named by Eakle (1898); It constitutes a single and 6-ringed, fibrous, bundled member of group-2 of zeolites. It has been epidemiologically revealed that this mineral has a carcinogenic effect on living things due to its crystalline structure.

In this study, toxic element contents of Nevşehir Province and its surroundings were investigated and evaluated. In particular, erionite, which is a zeolite group mineral in the volcanic tuff rocks in the region, has been discussed. The samples taken from the determined regions were evaluated by mineralogy and chemical analysis. By revealing the health problems of the people living in the region, precautions and solutions that can be taken for the region are presented. The fact that the necessary importance is not given to human health in Nevşehir Province and its surroundings, which is the research region, reveals the purpose of the study.
