Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a new method for data fusion, in a statistical manner, on a per-field basis that can be applied before a per-field classification for increasing per-field classification accuracy. The method developed for statistical data fusion is a model-based data fusion method which utilizes nested mixture distribution modelling and integrates two multiresolution and multispectral image data each from different wavelengths of different spectral bands of different imaging sensors with different resolutions and having a different number of spectral bands. The statistical data fusion process involves two successive steps.
