Özet:

The contribution of the biomass potential produced from domestic solid waste and the amount of electrical energy connected to this potential to Turkey's bio economy in various regions between 2010 and 2020 was examined in this study. The amount of domestic solid waste required was obtained from the Turkish Statistical Institute. The results show that the Marmara region has the highest amount of waste at 60,586 kt, which is approximately 35% of the 175,249 kt waste in Turkey. The total theoretical biomass potential for 2010–2020 was calculated to be 31,789 kton. In addition, the total electricity potential obtained from domestic solid waste biomass between the aforementioned years was determined to be 379,698 ×106 kWh, which is 7.81% of the electrical energy needed by Turkey. It is also estimated that more than 35,000,000 kt of solid waste can be produced annually until 2030, with an average of 9.5 million tons (mt) of CO2 emissions, considering the changing types and amounts of waste over the years and the procedures to be applied. In addition, the circular economy model is developed in this study, and the discounted payback period is 12 years.
