Özet

Electronically conducting polymers have gained prime importance in corrosion protection as coating material and they have been considered as strong candidates to replace traditional coatings, for many years. In recent years, many commercial formulations including various conducting polymers have been developed for anticorrosive applications. They offer a multifunctional coating on the surface, since they have some kind of anodic protective effect, as well as physical barier property. A good quality coating is said to have low permeability, good environmental stability, ease of synthesis and cost efficiency. The synthesis, structural properties, stability of a conducting polymer film has crucial importance in aspect of corrosion protection efficiency. Therefore in this section, the synthesis techniques, porosity and its importance, evaluation of corrosion performance, the problems faced with the use of conducting polymer films and how to improve coating quality are discussed.
