TUBITAK Project, 2019 - 2020
In this project to be developed, it is aimed to create a solution against drone threats. When any unmanned aerial vehicle is detected, it will direct an electromagnetic weapon towards the unmanned aerial vehicle, disrupting its frequency and rendering it ineffective. The developed project will determine the location of the neutralized unmanned aerial vehicle and transmit it to the communication center. Thus, drone attacks will be prevented. Recently, with the development of unmanned aerial vehicles, a significant problem has emerged in the field of security. While drones developed with advancing technology are used for carrying loads, some terrorist organizations have used them to carry out bombings. Drone attacks are very risky because it is difficult to counteract drones. The previously used method of intervening with a net has risks such as loss of time and failure to hit the target. Currently, the Drone Jammer weapon developed by Aselsan neutralizes drones by disrupting their communication with the control center using magnetic waves. However, the detection of drones still relies on the primitive method of human intervention. This method has many negative aspects. A drone may arrive during a shift change, or a drone attack may occur due to any inattentiveness of the person controlling the drone. Additionally, a guard must be stationed at every point where a drone attack could occur, increasing the workload.
In the system we will develop, unmanned aerial vehicles in the air will be detected using image processing techniques without the need for any human intervention, and the Drone Jammer weapon will be directed to neutralize the drone. This system will reduce human workload while performing scanning operations 24/7. When an unmanned aerial vehicle is detected, it will neutralize it and at the same time take a photo of the object, sending the photos as alerts to the main center and the implemented application. This way, bombings carried out with drones will be prevented.
