The aim of this study is to determine the effect of different anesthesia protocols on the pharmacokinetics of meloxicamin dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy. 16 dogs that will undergo ovariohysterectomy will be used in the research. Dogswill be randomly divided into two equal groups: xylazine+ketamine and propofol+isoflurane anesthesia. Meloxicam will beused subcutaneously at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg in both groups. Blood samples will be collected in tubes including heparinbefore meloxicam administration (0.h, control) and at 5, 15, 30 and 45 minutes and 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, 48, and 72h following drug administration. The blood samples taken will be centrifuged at 4000 g for 10 minutes to obtain plasmasamples and will be stored at --80 ºC until analysis. Meloxicam analysis from plasma samples will be carried out with thehelp of high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC)-UV. Pharmacokinetic parameters will be calculated using the WinNonlinprogram after drawing the plasma concentration-time curve for each sheep. Study results will be evaluated using theappropriate statistical program.
